Air Travel
The nearest airport is Portland International Airport (PDX). The airport is about 12 miles from the Oregon Convention Center and downtown Portland.

Ground Transportation
MAX Light Rail
The MAX light rail Red Line is the easiest and most affordable way to travel to and from the PDX airport.
- The trip to/from downtown Portland takes about 38 minutes and requires an “All-Zone” fare, currently $2.35.
- The first train of the day arrives at PDX at 4:44 a.m. on weekdays and 4:45 a.m. on weekends. The last train departs PDX at 11:49 p.m., daily.
- The MAX station and ticket machines are located near baggage claim on the lower level.
- To travel to the Convention Center, take the Red Line to the Convention Center Stop.

Taxi
The taxi pick-up area is located near Baggage Claim. The average taxi fare from the airport to downtown is approximately $35 before gratuity. Radio Cab offers coupons on their website.  From the airport to the convention center takes 20-30 minutes.
Shuttle
For a shuttle to your hotel, contact Blue Star Transportation at (503) 249-1837 or (800) 247-2272.
- The shuttles depart the airport every half hour at the top and bottom of the hour from 7:30am to 12:30am. No reservations are required. Busses are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Located outside of Baggage Claim, down the walkway to the left at Island #2, then find the “Scheduled Buses and Vans” pick up area.
- Regular price is $14 one way or $24 round trip. Mention GRACE HOPPER to receive a discounted rate of $11 one way, or $22 round trip during November 6th-13th.

Limousine service must be booked in advance. There are no on-call limousines at the airport.  The average rate from the airport to the Oregon Convention Center or Downtown Portland is $40-$50 before gratuity.

INTERNATIONAL ROSE TEST GARDEN
Portland is home to the oldest official continuously operated public rose test gardens in the United States. Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world enjoy the sights and scents of the gardens. OREGON MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY (OMSI)
One of the nation’s leading science museums, OMSI is 219,000 square feet of brain-powered fun! Five enormous halls bring science to life with hundreds of interactive exhibits and displays. You can experience an earthquake, take part in live lab demonstrations, see a movie in the OMNIMAX Dome Theater, explore the universe in a world-class planetarium and even tour a real submarine. Located on the east bank of the Willamette River.

Trek through the tropics amid the sounds of birds, monkeys and other creatures. You’re not in West Africa; you’re in Portland at the zoo’s African Rain Forest exhibit. After you’ve survived the steamy tropics, dry off in the savanna, where giraffes, rhinos and hippos graze. From the crest of the Cascade Mountains to the coastal waters of Peru, travel around the world in an afternoon. The zoo is located in Washington Park, five minutes from downtown on Highway 26 West, or about 10 minutes via MAX light rail (Blue or Red line, Washington Park stop).
Hours: Open seven days a week, year-round. May-September, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; September-May: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Zoo grounds stay open one hour after last entry time. A limited selection of animals are on exhibit at 8 a.m.

Located in the heart of downtown Portland, Pioneer Courthouse Square is affectionately known as the city’s “living room.” Â The square is also one of Portland’s leading outdoor venues, hosting 300 events each year, from large-scale concerts to cultural festivals. Starting in 2010, the Portland Farmers Market will operate in the Square every Monday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., June-October.
