Hoppers

Applications are now closed.

All notifications have gone out.  We had an overwhelming number of applications, and we extend our gratitude to everyone who applied to be a Hopper this year.

We still have a few open positions for Monday, September 28th from 9am-5pm.  This would be 2 shifts back to back, thus fulfilling your 8 hours of volunteer time.  If you are interested, please contact Rachelle Siskin ASAP.

Accepted Hoppers

It is important that you attend the required Hoppers meeting on Wednesday, September 30th from 9-10pm in the San Pedro 1-2 room at the JW Marriott Resort in Tucson.  If your assignments are on Monday and Wednesday only, you do not need to attend.

What are Hoppers?

Hoppers are volunteers at the Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing who work at the event in exchange for free conference registration and a t-shirt. This is a great way to get involved and meet other GHC attendees.

Hoppers are assigned shifts that add up to 8 hours of volunteer time, which means they may have to miss a session at the conference. Hoppers pay for their own travel expenses, including airfare and hotel costs. Do not apply to be a Hopper until you have secured funding for your travel expenses.

Work assignments include monitoring program sessions, stuffing conference bags, greeting attendees, taking notes in sessions, selling shirts and posters, and many other things. Shifts are available a few days before the conference, as well as during the conference.

If you plan to apply for a Hopper position, please do not register for the conference until you have been notified of your acceptance. If you are not accepted, you will still be able to register for the conference at Early Bird rates.

Please contact Rachelle Siskin with any questions.
