Confidential Advice Session for Junior Faculty

Pre-tenure female faculty face unique challenges. Unlike their male counterparts, junior faculty women have far fewer peers and few to no senior female role models. In addition, female faculty are so rare that they fear their questions and problems will easily be remembered by senior faculty when their tenure cases are evaluated. The goal of this session is to allow junior women to discuss specific problems and get advice.
Latinas in Computing

This BOF is intended as a follow-on to the panels entitled “Successful Latinas Opening Doors to the Future.” It is expected that these panels will engender much discussion among Latina engineers, researchers, and students in computing, and that the panels’ audiences will wish to explore in more depth many of the issues that will be introduced by the panelists. This BOF is designed to facilitate informal discussion following the panels.

What to look for in a job offer? There are many points to consider when making the important decision of choosing the company to work for upon graduation. This decision can be challenging and often confusing. This session will introduce some questions and topics to think about that a recent college graduate may or may not take into account. The goal is to help students form opinions and sets of acceptable answers.
